The Community Players to hold auditions for ‘9 to 5’
The Community Players will hold auditions for their spring musical 9 to 5 on Sunday, February 2 and Monday, February 3, 2020, (callbacks, if necessary, will be held on Sunday, February 9 at 1:00pm), at St. Margaret’s School, 1098 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence, RI. Sign-in will begin at 6:30 pm, with auditions beginning promptly at 7. (All those auditioning must be signed in by 8:30 pm.)
Director Joan Dillenback, Music Director Ron Procopio and Choreographer Michael Maio are looking for a diverse cast.
All roles are open.
Those auditioning should bring sheet music and prepare 16 bars of an up-tempo song (not from 9 to 5). An accompanist will be provided. Be prepared and dressed to dance. The audition may also include cold readings from the script.
The show will be produced at Jenks Auditorium on May 8, 9, 10, 15, 16 and 17, 2020.

Show Description:
Three unlikely friends take control of their office and learn there is nothing they can’t do, even in a man’s world. 9 to 5 The Musical, with music and lyrics by Dolly Parton and book by Patricia Resnick, is based on the seminal 1980 hit movie. Set in the late 1970s. this hilarious story of friendship and revenge in the Rolodex era is outrageous, thought-provoking and even a little romantic. Pushed to the boiling point, three female coworkers concoct a plan to get even with the sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot they call their boss. In a hilarious turn of events, Violet, Judy and Doralee live out their wildest fantasy – giving their boss the boot! While Hart remains “otherwise engaged,” the women give their workplace a dream makeover, taking control of the company that had always kept them down. Hey, a girl can scheme, can’t she?
