The Community Players present ‘BIG: The Musical’

PAWTUCKET, RI –Rhode Island’s oldest community theater, The Community Players, currently celebrating their 102nd season, is proud to present the first show of the season BIG: The Musical from November 10 – 19, 2023

BIG is a heart-warming and hilarious musical based on the 1987 smash-hit film starring Tom Hanks. It is the story of a twelve-year-old boy named Josh who is feeling all the anxiety of being an awkward teenager and wishes he were “big.” One night, a chance encounter with a Zoltar carnival machine grants him his wish. As a grown up, Josh learns that being “big” is much harder than he thought. The musical explores themes of innocence, imagination, and the desire to always stay young at heart. This is a fun-filled musical for the whole family. 

Directed by Paul Nolette of Pawtucket,with music direction by Brittany Dyer of Foxboro,and choreography by Leslie Racine Vazquez of Warwick, the production features the talents of Tyler Rebelloof Acushnet, MA, Melanie Gendreau of Seekonk, MA, Kristen Bond of Bristol, Eve Marie Webster of Lincoln, Terry Shea of North Kingstown, Matthew McGuirl of Millis, MA, and Ethan Kerwin of Smithfield. 

In conjunction with the production, The Community Players, which have been supporting community service projects since its inception, will be collecting donations for the Women & Infants Hospital Neonatal Unit. Items to be collected include new preemie clothes, infant toys, adult robes, and PJs. Items can be dropped off with The Community Players at any of the performances.

Produced at Jenks Auditorium located on Division Street in Pawtucket, across from McCoy Stadium, performances are scheduled for November 10, 11, 12, 17, 18, 19, 2023 with Friday and Saturday curtain times at 7:30 pm and Sunday matinees at 2:00 pm. Tickets are $30.00 for adults and $18.00 for students (with a valid ID). Discount rates are also available for all performances for groups of 20 or more. Those attending the opening night performance on Friday, November 10 will be entered into a drawing for a special prize! Come and experience live theater at its best!
